House Manager-Westhaven House

House Manager

As the Registered Manager of Westhaven House, I feel incredibly proud of the home and the team we
have built here. With over 17 years’ experience in residential childcare, including 8 years with
Horizons, I have seen first-hand the difference a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment can
make in a young person’s life.
I began my journey as a relief worker, before progressing to senior, then Assistant Manager, and now
House Manager. This experience has not only shaped me as a professional, but also reminds me
every day of the importance of growth, opportunity, and encouragement. At Westhaven, we are
passionate about supporting staff progression—helping our team develop their skills and confidence
so they can provide the very best care for the young people we support.
I feel very well supported in my role by our Regional Manager and Directors, who are always on hand
with guidance, encouragement, and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of both staff and young
people. They ensure we have access to excellent training and development opportunities, which not
only help staff to grow in their roles but also enhance the care and support we can provide. This
investment in learning means our team is always developing, reflective, and confident in delivering
high-quality, therapeutic care.
My team and I are committed to creating a home where every young person feels valued, respected,
and listened to. From the very first day, we work hard to ensure that you feel welcome, safe to be
yourself, and confident that your voice matters.
We are fully committed to The Promise Scotland and to putting the needs, rights, and voices of young
people at the centre of everything we do. Our approach is all about care, encouragement, and
opportunities—helping each young person grow, achieve their goals, and enjoy life.
The house itself is modern, spacious, and designed to feel like a real home, but it’s the relationships
that make the biggest difference. We pride ourselves on building strong, trusting bonds and providing
consistent, compassionate care in a family-like setting.
For me, welcoming new young people into our home is one of the most important parts of our work. It
is a privilege to walk alongside them, to support their journey, and to watch them thrive. Westhaven
House isn’t just somewhere to live—it’s a place where children and young people can feel safe, build
resilience, and belong.
