Senior Residential Child Care Worker

We are looking for caring, committed, and resilient Senior Residential Child Care Workers to join our team. In this key role, you will help create a safe, therapeutic, and welcoming home environment while supporting both children, young people, and the wider staff team to thrive.

As a Senior Residential Child Care Worker, you will provide high-quality care, supervise key workers, and support the development of colleagues through guidance, observation, and quality assurance. You will work closely with children, families, and professionals to ensure consistent, child-centred, and trauma-informed practice.

The Role

  • Provide high-quality, therapeutic care to children and young people
  • Supervise and support key workers and wider staff team
  • Act as case manager, overseeing care plans and day-to-day quality assurance
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and welcoming home environment
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and professionals
  • Support staff development through observation, feedback, and guidance

Pay

  • Hourly rate: £14.25 – £17.00
  • Approximate annual salary: £34,500 – £40,220 (including sleepover allowance)
  • Fully qualified and experienced candidates (HNC, SVQ3, SVQ4):
  • Minimum £15 per hour
  • Approximate annual salary of £35,972 (including sleepover allowance)

Shifts

  • Full days, sleep-ins, and on-call duties
  • Ability to work unsocial hours, including weekends, is required

About You

We are looking for individuals who are confident, compassionate, and motivated to support both young people and colleagues.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience working in residential child care
  • Confidence supervising staff and supporting quality practice
  • A commitment to safeguarding and high standards of care
  • A clean driving licence (preferred)

Qualifications

  • HNC and/or SVQ3 Children and Young People (or equivalent)
  • SSSC registration requirements met (or ability to meet them)
